EU Commissioner Breton in Germany

Today, Commissioner for Internal Market, Thierry Breton, is in Saarbrücken, Germany, for meetings with authorities, industry and a Citizens’ Dialogue at the regional Parliament. This morning, Commissioner Breton met with Minister President of the Saarland, Tobias Hans, mainly to discuss industrial policy, its structural change and transformation. He also had a meeting with the President of the Parliament of the Saarland, Stephan Toscani. T

he Commissioner visited the car parts manufacturer ZF Friedrichshafen AG and met the company CEO Wolf-Henning Scheider to discuss electrification of the automotive industry and the role of semiconductors in the value chain.

In the afternoon, Commissioner Breton will attend a Citizens’ Dialogue at the regional Parliament, in the context of a Conference on the Future of Europe event. The topic of the Dialogue is ‘Green Deal – Mastering the transition: Politics, Technology, Social Issues’. This follows the European Citizens’ Panel on climate change, environment and health, which took place online this past weekend, where 200 citizens worked on recommendations for the EU institutions to follow up on
