EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels On Monday, 15 November

On Monday, 15 November 2021, Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting in Brussels . The meeting will be chaired by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell. The discussions will focus on the Western Balkans and the Sahel.

Members of the Foreign Affairs Council are expected to discuss the possibilities for enhancing cooperation between the EU and the Western Balkans. As the current chair of the Council of the European Union, Slovenia strongly supports the strengthening of the Union’s coordination and cooperation with partners in the Western Balkans. In the discussion on the Western Balkans, the ministers and state secretaries intend to focus on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and on Serbia-Kosovo relations.

As for the Sahel, the attention will be devoted to the serious security situation and humanitarian crisis there with a view to bringing stability to the region. FAC members will also have an opportunity to exchange views on current foreign policy issues, such as Belarus, the energy crisis, the situation in Sudan and Ethiopia, etc. They are expected to adopt the Council conclusions on conventional weapons and on the Review Conference of the Treaty on Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

Following the Foreign Affairs Council, the Eastern Partnership Ministerial Meeting and the joint session of Foreign Affairs and Defence Ministers, where the spotlight will be on the Strategic Compass.
