In August 2021, 271 companies were declared bankrupt in Belgium. This is the lowest number since May 2020, when 270 bankruptcies were registered. Those registered bankruptcies in August resulted in the loss of 485 jobs: 269 full-time jobs, 90 part-time jobs and 126 salaried employers.
These are the sectors with the highest number of bankruptcies in August: 82 bankruptcies in the transport sector and in the other services sector, 63 in trade, 59 in construction and 49 in the hospitality industry. At regional level, there were 147 bankruptcies in Flanders, 71 in Wallonia and 53 in Brussels.
